The Bonnie Gordon Team are:

Bonnie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a post-graduate degree in Art Education from Concordia University in Montreal.  She then received her MA in Education from the prestigious Bank Street College of Education in New York City, where she worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts and The Brooklyn Museum. Upon returning to Canada, Bonnie worked at the Ottawa Museum of Nature and Toronto’s McMichael Gallery. She discovered her passion for cake design in the mid-90s and in 1997 started her studio, Bonnie Gordon Cakes.

Her distinctly feminine style and meticulous attention to detail quickly established Bonnie as one of the top cake designers in the field. Over the years her cakes have been featured in numerous international magazines, on TV and in feature films; most notably “The Perfect Man,” starring Heather Locklear and Hilary Duff.

In 2005 Bonnie began teaching introductory cake decorating and design classes out of her studio.  Many aspiring cake decorators were eager to learn more about this exciting new artform and Bonnie’s personal style intrigued them. Her background in art education and cake design was the perfect combination and Bonnie’s studio classes quickly grew to include baking and sugarcraft.

The continued success of Bonnie’s classes meant a move to larger premises in the spring of 2008 and her newfound passion was the growth and development of Bonnie Gordon School and the creation of a comprehensive fully hands-on curriculum.

The school is currently staffed by a team of highly skilled industry professionals who all share a passion for excellence in confectionary education. Students come from as far away as Mauritius, Brazil and Singapore and Bonnie Gordon School is admired internationally as a leader in the field.

In 2009 Bonnie launched “The Cake Show”, an annual exhibition, centered around a cake design exhibition, live cake decorating challenges and cake tasting contests. To learn more about “The Cake Show” visit www.thecakeshow.com.

Today Bonnie is revered as a frontrunner in the field of cake design and a mentor to the current generation of young cake designers.

chChristine's journey began as a student at the Bonnie Gordon School with a serious sweet tooth and a passion for cake decorating and design.  She volunteered for the very first Cake Show in 2009 at the cake tasting station and after much persuation from Bonnie, she entered a cake into the competition and won in the category of Engagement Cakes.  She loved the experience and working with the team at the Cake Show so much that she applied for an internship at the school and it was such an enriching experience for her that she started her own business making cakes.  It wasn't too long after her internship that she joined the Bonnie Gordon school as Weekend Admistrator and Internship Coordinator.  To inquire about the Internship Programme at the school, contact Christine at christine@bonniegordoncakes.com or call the school on the weekends to speak to her directly.

Marisa was trained as a chef at the Fanshawe College Culinary Management program in London, Ontario, and obtained her Red Seal Certificate while working as an apprentice at Vineland Estates Winery. Her success as a chef eventually lead Marisa to the world of pastry and cake design, where she was drawn to the impressive works of cake art and wedding cake design. The award-winning cake creations and impressive industry reputation led Marisa to the Bonnie Gordon School, where she was privileged to land to intern position for Bonnie in the CAP program. Through her work at Bonnie Gordon, Marisa gained the confidence and skills to launch MarissKiss Creative Cakes. Marisa currently works at the Bonnie Gordon School as Operations Coordinator.

Sinead studied graphic design in Dublin, Ireland and worked in editorial design there for three years before she came to Canada in search of new experiences. She found what she was looking for at the Bonnie Gordon School where she started as an Office Administrator. She soon felt at home here and enjoyed meeting new challenges and new people from day to day. Her role has expanded over time to include web design and other diverse tasks. She has chosen to stay in Canada and the welcoming and fun environment at the Bonnie Gordon School has played a big role in that decision!
