Bonnie studied
Fine Arts in Montreal and obtained her Master’s Degree
in New York City. Although clothing design was her family
legacy, it was not her choice of artistic expression and she
spent many years working in museums in both the United States
and Canada. Bonnie credits her many years studying studio
art and art history as well as the time she spent working
at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Cloister’s in New
York City, the Museum of Natural Sciences in Ottawa and the
McMichael Gallery in Toronto as key factors in her development
as a cake designer extraordinaire.

On
leave from the McMichael Art Collection after the birth of
her second child, Bonnie realized it was time for a career
change and she began taking chef’s classes. She soon
switched her focus from savoury to sweet when she realized
the incredible potential for the creation of art using cake-decorating
materials. Her passion for her newfound career led her to
classes at the Culinary Institute of America and Edwald Notter’s
School of Confectionary Art. Bonnie traveled extensively,
determined to study with only the best in the field and counts
the time she spent working with Colette Peters at her studio
in New York City as one of the most memorable in her training.
